One for the Footnotes
In 2010, Bob Dylan asked screenwriter Jay Cocks to write a screenplay based on Dylan's song "Brownsville Girl," which the singer-songwriter had co-written with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard.
On Dylan's latest album, the blood-soaked Tempest, he returns the favor, basing the the title cut not only on history but also a screenplay co-written (albeit uncredited) by Cocks: Titanic.
As for that "Brownsville Girl" script, Cocks wrote it, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt were at various times rumored involved, and, as these things often go in Hollywood, nothing more has thus far happened.
